Our little family has had many wonderful opportunities while we’ve been living in Japan. Sunday we were able to add another to that long list. Elder Russell M. Nelson came to visit. The kids and I were able to listen to the apostle and feel of his love and spirit. All the little children stood and sang “I Am A Child of God” with him. Nathan and Kennedy were beaming and so excited. It was so sweet and tender. Being in a military district is very unique and Elder Nelson commented that he will never be able to sing “Onward Christian Soldiers” again without thinking of his experience in Okinawa. He was impressed with the unique meaning it brought to the song to sing it in the presence of soldiers and their families. I was changed too. I just feel so blessed today!
“Most people live from day to day without a thought of what they will do after this life is over, so we try to give them that eternal perspective. This mortal experience is just act two of a three-act play—the best is yet to come.” —Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve
