Black History Month Skit

Kennedy’s class put on a skit for Black History Month.  Kennedy was Madame CJ Walker and took her part rather serious.  Madame CJ Walker was a self made millionaire, know for developing her own line of beauty product especially for black women.  Kennedy researched and wrote a report on her lady.  She was inspired  by her.  It made me smile when I saw a quote that she had written taped to her mirror in her bedroom.

“I got my start by giving myself a start.”

I volunteered to help with the back drop, and as it turns out, I was the only person that volunteered.  Yikes!! Realizing that I would need some help to pull it off, I recruited 2 other moms at a birthday party.  I think it turned out perfect.  It was just simple, so it didn’t over power the kids.  I also became the bun lady the day of the play.  I guess I’ve gained quite the reputation with my mad hair skills!! 🙂

Awesome job, Kennedy! I love your hat, shawl and hair – very stylish! Too cute!! Good job on the back drop Mom. It turned out great! It is a lot of time and work to be involved in your children’s school but you won’t regret it! It sends an important message!
