It’s finished!!

Advent calendar

Growing up, one of my favorite holiday traditions was our Christmas advent calendar.  We looked forward to peeking into the pockets each night to see what treat or treasure was tucked inside.  Each day also had a scripture tucked into the pocket, so it was a great way to keep the focus of Christmas on Christ.  I have been searching for a long time for one, but either they were ridiculously priced, or not what I wanted.  My sister and I had several discussions on multiple occasions about this.  Well, she finally gave up and decided she was just going to make one.  Her calendar turned out so cute, that I decided  to make one of my own.  I think I have seriously been gathering the fabric for several years. I know..I know!  It’s been a little tricky coming up with the pattern on my own.  A couple months back when Brian was crazy busy at work and I hardly saw him, I decided the time was right!  I wanted to get it done so I could enjoy it this year!  Brian teased me without end about working on a Christmas project in July, but I am so glad I did.  It is done and I love it!  Brian was properly impressed when it was all done also.  Secretly I think he thought I was crazy to take on such a big project!   I can’t wait to use it, and I am anxious to start my fun childhood tradition in my own little family.  Thanks to Mom for being my supplier of items that I just couldn’t get my hands on here and for always be there when I needed someone to vent my project frustrations on, and thank you to Katie for such cute inspiration.  Lastly, thank you to Typhoon Muifa for giving me several days stuck in the house to finish it all up!  🙂

AMAZING!! Everything you do is amazing, Natalie! And it’s even more impressive that you made up the pattern yourself! You could sell those! How did you do the lettering on the top?
