Nago Castle Ruins (Nangusuku Castle)

Spring has sprung in Okinawa.  The beautiful Sakura (cherry blossoms) are in full bloom.   With Brian gone TDY to the states, we missed the annual cherry blossom festival.   However, this weekend we went exploring to the Nago castle ruins.  Nago castle park is rank as one of the top cherry blossom spot in all of Japan!   How lucky are we??  Nago castle dates back to the 14th century.  Although not much of the castle remains, the setting is gorgeous.  We enjoyed taking a nice nature walk around the park, and I loved taking pictures.    I should have counted how many steps we climbed, but it was a massive amount, and Nathan climbed each and every one!  Each step for him was like a full lunge for me!  NO KIDDING! It was quite the workout for our little man!

This picture basically sums up our 2 year old these days.  Nathan and Woody are best pals!  Woody goes everywhere with us.

I made the mistake of making a comment about how fun it would be to slide all the way down on the railing.  Luckily Nate decided he might get hurt, but Woody did it pretty well!

Sweet sticky cotton candy.  Delicious.  Pinkilicious!

I love this pictures I took of Nate.  I think it is so precious. Besides, wouldn’t you die to have those blue eyes?  As Brian’s boss once put it, “Could his eyes be any more blue?” I don’t think so!

At the top of one set of stairs there was little little building.  Certainly a sacred spot.  Behind there was a smaller building similar to those at the shrines where you placed the deceased.  Around the building these amazing origami chains hung.  You can see a few of the in this picture.  The detail was amazing!

What a good looking guy…and he’s all mine!

It was a fun day, but the coldest day we have had in a long time!   I’m not even going to include the -11 degree weather we faced in Idaho.  I’ll get back to that….it’s another story all together!

We were in Idaho when it was that cold too!!! Sorry we didn’t get to see you. We drove back and our car thermostat said it was -36 degrees right outside of Laramie, WY. CRAZY Cold!

Wow! That looks amazing! And the pictures are all so cute! Did you do something different with the camera settings? The colors are really great!

These are exquisite photos. The pictures of Kennedy and Nathan are precious. The pictures of you and Brian are wonderful too. So great to see you all look so well. We aren’t feeling sorry for you and the cool temp. It has been very nice here for Feb. but today the cold wind is not nice! We are longing for the warm days on the cruise.

Stunning! It’s amazing how much easier it is to acclimatize to warmer weather! Nathan’s cheering for the Cougars during Malia’s cheer video made me giggle. He’s true blue, for sure! 🙂
