Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love the smell, food, and music. The kids and I dug out our Christmas decorations only to find that most of it never made its way to Japan. We had a tree and nothing but a tree skirt for it! Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal, but here on Okinawa it is! Basically all the Christmas decorations sold out at the BX before Thanksgiving. A rule of thumb here is if you like it, you better buy it NOW! I stocked up on pumpkin in August because by October its very hard to come by. I knew this, but I thought I was prepared with all the decorations we brought. I scrambled to decorate our tree. I did find my snowflake ornaments in a random easter decoration box. We could have out Easter eggs on the tree, but I decided that needed to be the very last possible plan! We made it work, and Kennedy’s bitty baby doll is our tree topper this year. Pretty fun, and maybe even a little creepy! We made due. We made gingerbread cookies, suckers, and candy canes to hang on the tree. I actually had to use fake candy canes because they were all sold out of the real deal! Nathan has continued the tradition of nibbling on the gingerbread men on the tree. The bottom half of our tree is looking bearer and bearer. He nibbles on them, and then sets parts of them back on the tree. I get a kick out of it. We also strung up some gingerbread cookies in the kitchen to make a garland. The kids were thrilled to each get a special video response back from Santa this week. What a treat it was! Kennedy also was a baby doll in a school musical performance this week at the BX. So cute!
