Relay for Life

Our family signed up to participate in the Relay  for Life this year.  Kennedy was VERY excited and chattered on all day about how exciting it would be.  The weather was perfect all day, until it got closer to the start of the event.  Since our team was kind enough to give us an early slot, we had the 6-10pm slot.  Considering the event went 18 hours straight all the through the night, I was grateful to do it first.  We took two cars over to the high school hoping someone would see the Cadillac was for sale.  That’s a whole other story though!  On the way over to the school it started to rain.

The kids and I got out and made our way to the front gates where the tents were all being set up, and waited for Daddy to find us.  As we stood there in the rain,  we heard the National Anthem play , the thunder and lightning picked up, and then Brian called us.  The event had been cancelled.  I didn’t even take any pictures! By now, a raging storm was rolling in.  Apparently they didn’t have a back up plan, so we we made our own plan and wore our team shirts over to get some ice cream!

On the way to McDonalds, we passed the Baskin Robbins.  Kennedy announced, “I guess Daddy doesn’t want the good ice cream.”  What can I say we like their dollar Tuesday, but other than that, it is a little pricey!  I’d rather go to Cold Stone if I am going to spend the big bucks on ice cream.  While we ate our cones, one of Brian’s JAG buddies Nick ordered nuggets and fries.  Nathan was so funny as he sneaked fries from Nick.  It was hilarious.  Of course, it was okay with Nick, but still it was too funny to watch him trying to be sly!  We finished our treats and headed home to put the kids to bed.

Once the Children were nestled all snug in their beds, Brian and I snuggled on the couch and watched Blind Side.  What a great show.  I really enjoyed it.  I would never let Kennedy or Nathan watch it considering the drama in it, and some language, but it is probably one of the better shows I’ve seen lately.  It seems like there is just so much trash out there right now.  It was nice to watch a good movie!  All in all, we turned the night into a good time, even if our plans were cancelled by the rain!!

Sometimes it seems like the weather just never cooperates! For little people, your two munchkins certainly have BIG personalities!! 🙂 I’m so glad you finally got to see “Blindside”! I thought it was sooo good too!

Yup, you guys know how to have fun no matter the weather! Kids definitely do and say the funniest things! Jason still hasn’t seen that one yet! We’ll have to remedy that soon I think.
